In honour of Slow Food worldwide, a feast of visitors will head to Turin, Italy from 21 to 25 October 2010, as the city hosts Salone del Gusto, the largest food exhibition in Europe, alongside the Terra Madre world meetings of food communities. UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the government department for trade and investment, has managed and supported the presence of UK producers within the UK pavilion at Salone del Gusto, where Slow Food UK will have a stand. UKTI staff will be present at the show to provide assistance to the UK exhibitors and commercial information to local visitors. UKTI will also promote the attendance of the UK group through a series of marketing and communications activities both with the local media and on UKTI websites.
Salone del Gusto will be an opportunity to share experiences with other international food communities, discover the flavours of the five continents at the world’s largest food marketplace, buy street food from vendors, try over 2,000 of the latest vintages and wine varieties at the Enoteca, as well as attend food conferences and participate in the many other activities on offer, including Taste Workshops and Meet the Maker events. Attending confirmed participants from the UK include: Richard Haward’s Oysters, Yorkshire Game, Anglesey Sea Salt, Eblex, Heather Hills, the British Pig Associaition, Tracklements and six different real ale beers served at the British pub. Detailed information on the exhibiting companies will be included in a catalogue, which UKTI will produce both in English and Italian, and distribute to visitors. Food communities from across the UK will be present, including Craft Bakers and Millers, Scottish Crofters of the Highlands & Islands, Sheepdrove Organic Farmers, Welsh Marches Traditional Brewers, Organic Breeders from Berwickshire, Monmouthshire Pork and Charcuterie Producers and members of the Slow Food in the Canteen project in Northern Ireland.
