Sustainability is an important topic that has been widely discussed in recent times. For instance, at the last General Assembly in Korea, IFOAM's membership approved a motion on sustainability in organic agriculture. With view to implementing the mandate of its membership, IFOAM is now organizing a session at the upcoming BioFach Nuremberg under the title "Developing Organic Agriculture's Leadership in Sustainability" on 16 February  2013.

The meeting will be moderated by IFOAM's ED Markus Arbenz and will showcase various guest speakers from the organic sector like Urs Niggli (FiBL), Volkert Engelsman (EOSTA B.V.), Helmy Abouleish (Sekem Group), Francis Blake (Soil Association Ltd.) and Michael Kuhndt (UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production GmbH).

Another event on the matter of sustainability is being organised by the BioFach Congress, together with Young Organics and the "Trainee Programm SOEL". The first BioFach Camp is an interactive session especially dedicated to young professionals of the organic sector. Various topics will be discussed in an open space format.
