The industry’s annual organic expo in Australia has a new name and theme: Sustain, for the two consumer days, and Sustain Trade Oceania, for the trade day, are two events that will showcase the aspects of sustainable living. The event, known for seven years as the Organic Expo & Green Show, will be held on 20–22 July 2012 at the Royal Hall of Industries at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter, BFA reports.
Show organiser Lena Smeaton of Smeaton Hackett Events stated the show was being repositioned to take it to a new level and appeal to a wider audience. “Surveys we commissioned reveal that the largest values held by business people and consumers were the need for authenticity and trust in product labels,” she said. "Sustain will bring together hundreds of options, open up new resources and will educate and entertain visitors on a path of discovery, whether it’s for themselves or for business.”
Visitors can sample, taste and buy from thousands of products and services covering health & wellness, food & drink, homes & gardens, beauty & fashion, technology & building, and life & careers. Whether it’s certified organic, fair trade & sustainable, green, ethical, allergy free or wellness, all have to meet sustainable entrance criteria. The Sustainable Profits mini-conference will again be held on the Friday trade day and events include hands-on workshops, demonstrations, forums and debates to teach new skills and open up new possibilities.
